What types of fuel can be used?
Gas- powered by natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), they burn the gas to heat. They are highly efficient to run, have reduced carbon emissions and are simple to control.
Oil - powered by oil which is stored in a tank at the property. The cost of running this boiler depends on the price of oil and it can be less efficient than a gas boiler, however there is a great range of power and style depending on the needs of the property.
Electric - powered directly from your home supply. These boilers are ideal for smaller properties and are economical to run. They can be fitted anywhere in a property and are highly efficient.
Biomass - these boilers burn biological materials such as wood pellets to creat heat. They are carbon netural and are energy efficient. They are a great alternative where gas or oil is not available.
What types of boiler are there?
Combi - these boilers heat water directly from the mains when you turn on the tap or heating. They only heat what you need and provide the water at mains pressure. They do not need any additional storage tanks and are ideal for smaller properties
System - these boilers heat water and store it in a water cylinder. They are economical to run and do not take up large amounts of space. They are able to provide hot water to multiple taps and so are ideal for larger properties.
Regular - these boilers use a cold water storage unit to feed the boiler and then store the hot water in a storage cylinder. They take up more room but are best suited to older properties where the pipework may not be able to cope with the water pressure of a combi boiler. They are ideal for providing hot water for several bathrooms at the same time.
